Aspects of School Life at Pentrepoeth Junior School

 

Pentrepoeth Junior School has many activities happening throughout the year. We are always looking to improve the school to make it a happy place where children want to come and learn.  Listed below are some of the activities and events that take place that your child will have the opportunity to participate in.

 

  • Breakfast Club daily - free to all children

 

  • Fruit Tuck Shop - open every break time with a variety of fruit available for 20p

 

  • Milk - available to buy every day for 20p

 

  • Lunchtime Mathematics Club and Lunchtime Welsh Club

 

  • Swimming lessons for all Year 3 pupils beginning September 2008 at Penlan Leisure Centre

 

  • Book Fairs - where parents and children can browse, choose and purchase from a selection of fiction and non-fiction books

 

  • After school clubs which include - Creators, Computer/homework, Science/Environmental, Choir, Rugby, Soccer, Netball, Basketball, Cross Country, Badminton, Bowls and a 4 O’clock Club where children are looked after from 3p.m. – 4p.m. this club encourages children to do their homework

 

  • Star Time on Friday afternoon - children are rewarded for their positive behaviour during the week by choosing a fun educational activity such as music, sport, art/craft, computer or singing


  • Visits organised in the community

 

  • Visits to Libraries and Museums

 

  • Visits organised to a variety of locations as an extension of topic work in the classroom

 

  • Residential visits for when your child is Year 4, 5 and 6 – if they wish to participate

 

  • Annual concert where all children, if they wish, can take part.  This year we are performing

 

  • Pentrepoeth Home/School Association organise regular events throughout the year which include Discos and Seasonal Fairs

 

  • Regular Newsletters are sent home with your child with information on forthcoming events and visits

 

There are provisions for your child to progress both intellectually and emotionally.  Opportunities are available to develop their creative and sporting skills and talents to ensure a broad based all round education. We want your child to be happy, who enjoys coming to school, and will progress to the best of their ability.
