| On Monday a farmer came in with chick eggs. We put them in an incubator. The incubator is kept at a temperature of 37.5C. |
| It will take 21 days for the eggs to hatch. |
| The chicks have an egg tooth to break out of the shell. We call this pipping. |
| It could take a couple of hours or all day for the chicks to hatch. |
| When they come out of the egg they are exhausted. |
| When the chicks pop out we are not allowed to feed them for 24 hours because their bellies are full from feeding on the yolk inside the shell. |
