Many thanks to all 114 of you who returned a completed parental survey response form. As the graphs illustrate your responses were overwhelmingly positive and match very closely the views of your children. However, we know we are not perfect and we as staff and governors are continually evaluating the educational provision we offer to the young children in our care.
In addition to completing the survey tick boxes15 of you added comments which we have taken on board and will make further improvements in those areas.
We will take a close look at the timing of letters and correspondence such as consent forms to ensure that you are aware well in advance of events and trips. Please check your child's bag to make sure that they have not forgotten it is there as this is often the case with several of our pupils. Will you please update us with any changes to your home, work and mobile phone number so that we can contact you with any change of plans in the school day that arise at short notice. Please check the calendar page on the web site which is updated regularly and a blank consent form is also available on our web site if your child has lost the original. As Headteacher I often pick up discarded newsletters and consent forms in the school yard at the end of the school day, so could I ask you to remind your child/ren of the importance of this correspondence to yourselves and to the School.
As a Junior School we are attempting to develop the Key Skill of Communication and in particular listening skills. Teachers and myself talk to the children on a daily basis about events and trips in class and assemblies and we are hoping that your child/ren can relate messages to you well in advance of newsletters etc - I am pleased to say that the vast majority of our children are good listeners and get the message home very effectively. We will however continue sending correspondence home.
As you will be aware through the local and national press, funding for school provision is extremely tight. A visit from a travelling theatre group to the school is a far more economical means of our children accessing these exciting learning opportunities than by visiting a theatre as there are no transport costs to consider. We are very conscious of the impact of the 'credit crunch' on everyone and that is why we make every effort to keep costs low. For example, we utilise local authority maintained residential centres whereby the costs are kept as low as possible - children on free school meals are able to go along on these residential visits for as little as £10 per week!! As a school we do not charge for extra music provision nor do we ask for a donation to help pay towards the cost of transport to swimming lessons. French tuition is an extra in school for Year 5/6 and there is no charge for this, after school clubs led by teachers are not charged for - only creators club and cookery club for consumables. The 4 O'Clock club is an after school provision where there is a charge of £1 to ensure that a qualified member of staff is on hand to supervise. All fund raising activities led by the Home School Association are to enable the school to purchase extra equipment and resources for your child/ren to have an enjoyable time learning whilst they are pupils in Pentrepoeth Junior School, and as always we are incredibly thankful for your fantastic support!!

Fantastic school. Wouldn’t want my children to be taught anywhere else
I am happy that you treat my child fairly. Thank you.
My child is always happy going to school. And when he come home he can’t wait to tell me what he is doing in school. I am very happy with school and what they are doing for my child in school.
Pentrepoeth school is outstandingly good, with friendly staff and a good head teacher, my daughter really enjoys going to school and has grown in confidence and her school work is excellent, the support from members of staff is always there.
All round fabulous school
Apart from weekly maths homework, and a termly project, no other homework is given
I am very happy with the school
Pentrepoeth Junior School should be proud of their achievements and I would not hesitate to highly recommend this school to anyone of interest in sending their children to it!
My three children have all attended Pentrepoeth infants / junior schools. I am happy with the progress they have all made during their time there. Also it has been good to see the changes and progress the schools have also made. Long may it continue (for my grand children’s sakes)
